LIVING PERSONA

Why Personas?

Businesses exist to provide a service to people. To provide good service, they need to put themselves in the shoes of their consumers. Companies conduct extensive research to understand how to improve their service to fit their customer's needs, wants, and desires. Researchers utilize multiple tools to collect Qualitative and/or Quantitative data from their clients to generate insights.

During those months of research, copious insights are represented by an archetypal representation via a generic format one-page document highlighting behavior patterns, goals, skills, attitudes, and background information of groups of people based on research.

The two-dimensionality of the one-page document is often laid out on a slide in a PowerPoint with an entirely designer-generated (often biased) story. It compresses and attaches an unintentional bias to the voices of the humans that can be misinterpreted, misused, and often wholly missed out by stakeholders in report-outs.

THE SOLUTION:

Living Persona turns paper personas into AI-powered digital personas enabling people (researchers and stakeholders) to talk to them. It enables the 2D personas to become more than just a PowerPoint slide. It is:

  • Dynamic and interactive in nature: Makes personas more engaging and immersive, leading to deeper understanding and insights.

  • Providing real-time feedback: Enables quicker iteration and improvements in the design process.

  • Generative: Can rapidly ideate a wide range of ideas and then prototype select concepts like narratives and service encounters from a potential user's perspective.

  • Enhancing Empathy: Facilitates a greater connection with personas, leading to more user-centric designs.

  • Reducing Bias: Let personas tell their own stories, removing the bias inherent in assuming their perspective and writing stories for them.

  • Bettering Communication: Facilitates effective remote or in-person collaboration between designers and other stakeholders via a single source of truth.

  • Engaging in Storytelling: Helps create compelling presentations and narratives to communicate research findings and design ideas.

  • Training and Educating: Serves as an engaging tool for showcasing user-centered design processes and onboarding new service designers or clients.
